The sense I had from the folks responding to my question was that their labeling the CIO as an "endangered species" was probably mainly to make a point and done just for the audacity of it. I'm not sure they really believed it, but they definitely felt that things were changing - and had to change Jay Fryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07528519479694492302noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5750610775394937780.post-87263138419050975962010-11-30T19:41:39.170-08:002010-11-30T19:41:39.170-08:00@cathcam-

I'm betting there will be both "cloudy" IT systems and non-cloudy ones for the foreseeable future. The CIO role will need to orchestrate between/among them all.<br />--jayJay Fryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07528519479694492302noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5750610775394937780.post-80329835435275996142010-11-30T12:38:06.495-08:002010-11-30T12:38:06.495-08:00Interesting blog Jay. Wonder if the CIO being classified as a dodo is pent up anger at how hard IT jobs have been during past two years -- friends laid off, salary freezes, more work, more stress etc. I certainly don't see cloud as the death of CIO. Like virtualization, cloud helps the CIO be the "yes" man to business requests instead of the "no" man -- which endears him Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5750610775394937780.post-16271551514510100242010-11-30T10:00:31.861-08:002010-11-30T10:00:31.861-08:00from CIO to CCOO Chief Cloud Orchestration Officer...from CIO to CCOO Chief Cloud Orchestration Officer?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
